Comments are for conversation. Disagreement is welcome; abuse is not.
What we remove
- Personal attacks, harassment, threats or hate speech.
- Spam, advertising, and repeated or off-topic posts.
- Defamatory, illegal or private information about other people.
- Impersonation of other users, writers or public figures.

How moderation works
- Your first comment is held for review. Once approved, later comments appear immediately.
- Comments containing several links may be held for review.
- We use automated spam filtering; legitimate comments occasionally get caught — write to us if that happens.
- Moderators may edit or remove comments that break these rules, and block repeat offenders.
- We may close comments on an article at any time.
