How S.C. FANDORIA S.R.L. (“we”, “us”) handles personal data when you read, comment on or subscribe to Eastern Remarks.
We act as data controller under Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and Romanian Law no. 190/2018.
Who we are

What we collect
- Technical data. When you load a page, your browser sends your IP address, browser type, device and the page requested. Our hosting provider records this in server logs, kept for a limited period for security and to keep the site running.
- Comments. If you comment, we store the name, email address and website you enter, your comment, and your IP address and browser user agent. Your email address is never published. Comments are checked for spam by a filter that runs on our own server; no data is sent to a third-party spam service.
- Newsletter. If you subscribe, we store your email address (and your name, if you give it) and the date you subscribed.
- Messages. If you email us, we keep your message and contact details to reply.
We count page views with a privacy-friendly statistics tool (Koko Analytics) that runs on our own server. It sets no cookies, does not recognise returning visitors and does not store IP addresses or any other personal data. We do not use advertising trackers and we do not build profiles of readers.
Why, and on what legal basis
- Running and securing the website, and counting anonymous page views — legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- Publishing and moderating comments — legitimate interest and the steps you request (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f)).
- Sending the newsletter — your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time using the unsubscribe link in every email.
- Answering your messages — legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)).
- Meeting legal obligations, such as accounting or requests from authorities (Art. 6(1)(c)).
Who we share it with
We never sell personal data. We share it only with providers that act on our instructions: our hosting provider (Hostinger), which also provides the newsletter service (Hostinger Reach), and our email provider. Where a provider processes data outside the European Economic Area, the transfer is protected by the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.
How long we keep it
- Comments: for as long as they remain published.
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.
- Emails: as long as needed to deal with your message, and no longer than three years.
- Server logs: for the limited period set by our hosting provider, unless needed to investigate a security incident.

You can ask to access, correct or delete your data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive it in a portable format. You can withdraw consent at any time. Write to contact@easternremarks.com; we reply within one month.
